20 Upcoming Horror Movies That Might Surprise You

Pinocchio Unstrung is the latest entry into the infamous Twisted Childhood Universe, which is of course built around adapting public domain fairytales and stories into low-budget slasher flicks.

But to the entire enterprise's modest credit, a few of the more recent films have at least touted a little more effort than one might reasonably expect from such a cynical business model.

And fair's fair - the trailer for Pinocchio Unstrung actually looks shockingly decent.

Despite the low budget, the practical animatronics used to bring Pinocchio to life are genuinely impressive, and even the CGI Cricket looks pretty damn solid.

Elsewhere it's cooking with its cast - the ever-brilliant Richard Brake is playing Geppetto, while Robert Englund will voice the Cricket. How can any card-carrying horror fan not love that?

The gory kills also look absolutely bonkers and, above all else, nobody can ever accuse it of taking itself too seriously. Don't be too shocked if this is the TCU's best-reviewed outing so far.
