20 Upcoming Horror Movies That Might Surprise You

Osgood Perkins' Longlegs is definitely a horror film that felt like a one-and-done, because despite its grimly open ending, Nicolas Cage's skin-crawlingly creepy titular antagonist perished long before the end.

So few were expecting the recent announcement of a Longlegs follow-up, with Perkins returning as writer and director and Cage once again reprising the role of Longlegs.

One can certainly sniff at the apparent desperation of it all, of taking a clear standalone horror story and spinning it off because it was a massive box office success, but at least in this case there's some clear creative drive there.

For one, Cage recently said of Longlegs 2 that he feels a "pride of ownership" over the character, given that Longlegs was influenced by his own mother (!) of all people.

That is to say, this isn't just an easy paycheck gig for Cage - he's clearly ultra-invested in doing justice to the iconic character a second time around, whatever form that takes.
