28 Years Later was a solid if certainly polarising sequel that had the tricky task of re-immersing audiences in the world of Danny Boyle's 2002's post-apocalyptic horror classic.

It wasn't a home run, but it was a confident, bold, visceral piece of work that seemed to promise greater things ahead.

Follow-up 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is just months away, and the trailer released so far looks absolutely stunning.

While 28 Years Later had to acquaint audiences with a host of new characters, The Bone Temple will benefit from our familiarity with the likes of Spike (Alfie Williams), Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes), and Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), while also lending greater context to the previous film's utterly puzzling final sequence.

And of course, we know that The Bone Temple will feature an appearance from the series' original lead, Cillian Murphy, though Boyle has already warned fans that it's more of a cameo intended to tee up a bigger appearance in the next planned sequel.

Even so, if The Bone Temple is basically setting the table for a grand finale revolving around Murphy's Jim, then it should leave fans decidedly more excited than the previous film's wildly divisive ending.
