20 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Could Be HUGE Improvements
2. Avatar: Fire & Ash
Avatar: The Way of Water offered yet more proof that you doubt James Cameron at your own peril, because in addition to the film's astonishing commercial performance, it was also a visually stunning and ultimately emotionally gratifying spectacle.
It did, however, have its share of narrative hiccups - the goofy resurrection of villain Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang) for one, and much of the contrived later plotting revolving around his son Spider (Jack Champion).
But with Way of the Water getting a lot of the awkward onboarding out of the way, there's sure potential for the third film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, to be far sturdier and less clunky on a narrative level.
With the threequel's clear focus on a new Na'vi tribe, the Ash People, Fire and Ash should have a distinct flavour to its predecessor, and above all else the new villain Varang (Oona Chaplin) looks like an absolute badass.
While The Way of Water more-or-less rehashed the same conflict from the first Avatar, Fire and Ash will seemingly make things more interesting by having disparate Na'vi tribes facing off against one another.
