Why It's Going To Suck: Barely Justified Existence

Hot Tub Time Machine just scraped by on the ridiculous nature of its premise, and a nice dollop of self-awareness, but it's probably true to say that it didn't really live up to the hype, and nobody came out of the theatre saying: "That is exactly the Hot Tub Time Machine I wanted. I am totally satisfied." So first things first: do we need a sequel? Especially one that loses John Cusack (the main protagonist in the last movie) in favour of Craig Robinson.

The plotline this time around hones in on the time machine taking our heroes to the future whereupon they must prevent a disaster featuring Rob Corddry's Lou, whilst the screenwriter - Josh Heald - was the same guy who wrote the first movie. Given that all the mileage seemed sucked out of this idea by the time the first movie was over, though, we're not getting our hopes up for this sequel: it's time to get rid of that miraculous hot tub, we think.
