20 Upcoming Movies That Made INSANE Casting Choices
12. Vanessa Redgrave - Ma Rooney (Cold Storage)
Hands up anyone who expected 88-year-old Vanessa Redgrave - one of the few living actors who can genuinely be considered screen royalty - to show up in a campy sci-fi horror B-movie in 2026?
Well, that's exactly what's going to happen in Cold Storage, a new comedy-horror film adapted from a novel penned by revered Hollywood screenwriter David Koepp.
The film revolves around a parasitic fungus that escapes from a remote military base, and in the middle of the trailer showing off all the gooey mayhem, there's a brief flash of Redgrave portraying an elderly woman credited as "Ma Rooney."
It's simply incredibly strange to see an actress of Redgrave's stature showing up in a film like this, especially at this stage in her career where her output is understandably slowing down.
Given that Cold Storage also co-stars Redgrave's son-in-law Liam Neeson - who was married to her late daughter Natasha Richardson - it's possible that he got her involved.
But no matter how she got the gig, it should be fun seeing Redgrave back on screen in such an unexpected project.
