20 Upcoming Movies That Might Be Surprisingly Good

Considering that the last Scary Movie came out 13 years ago and just about everyone agreed the franchise had well and truly run its course by that point, it's easy to roll your eyes at the prospect of a belated sixth film.

After all, the parody genre barely has a pulse these days, in large part due to social media cornering the market on high quality parody content, ensuring the movie equivalent can't help but feel woefully out of date by comparison.

But Scary Movie 6 does have a few things going for it - for one, the Wayans brothers are returning as writers, producers, and stars for the first time since the second film.

More than that, an overwhelming number of actors from the first two movies are also set to return, including Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Jon Abrahams, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, and Chris Elliott.

As such, it seems highly likely that Scary Movie 6 will be taking aim at the trend of legacy sequels over the past decade in horror films such as Halloween 2018, Scream 2022, and last year's I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Marlon Wayans has meanwhile suggested that the sequel will also spoof Get Out, Nope, Longlegs, Heretic, and Sinners, among others, the potential of which speaks for itself.

Few are expecting this sequel to match the beloved first two Scary Movies, but if it can deliver a gloriously dumb time in the vein of last summer's The Naked Gun reboot, that'd basically be an epic win.
