20 Upcoming Netflix Originals You NEED To Know About
1. The Killer
David Fincher is another beloved filmmaker who has found it easier to secure funding with Netflix, and will follow up Mank with a return to his thriller roots.
The Killer, adapted from Alexis Nolent's graphic novel series, revolves around a hitman (Michael Fassbender) who is forced to reckon with a crushing psychological crisis. Tilda Swinton will co-star.
Beyond the obvious appeal of Fincher, Fassbender, and Swinton teaming together, the script was penned by Seven writer Andrew Kevin Walker, and Fincher's Mindhunter and Mank DP Erik Messerschmidt will handle the cinematography.
Shooting started last November, though given Fincher's famed perfectionism both while filming and during post-production, this could easily end up sliding into 2023.
It feels like far less of an awards prospect than Mank, but as Fincher's pulpier projects have proven, that's rarely a bad thing.
