20 Upcoming Netflix Originals You NEED To Know About
2. White Noise
Noah Baumbach continues his fruitful relationship with Netflix, which resulted in six Oscar nominations and a win for his previous film, Marriage Story.
Baumbach is back with White Noise, an adaptation of Don DeLillo's 1985 novel about Jack Gladney (Adam Driver), a Professor of Hitler studies (!) whose life is changed forever when a train accident spreads toxic chemical waste all over his town.
Greta Gerwig co-stars as Jack's wife Babette, while the supporting cast includes Raffey Cassidy, André Benjamin, Alessandro Nivola, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Don Cheadle.
You basically know what you're getting with a Baumbach film - restrained formalistic direction, great performances, and witty dialogue about the woes of the upper-middle classes.
There's no reason to expect any different here, and naturally Baumbach's involvement alone makes this a possible awards player next year.
