20 Useless Things You Probably Never Knew About Star Wars

2. Darth Vader Can Get In Your Mind

Star Wars Return Of The Jedi Luke Skywalker Darth Vader
Lucasfilm

As the only character to activate his lightsaber in every one of the original films, Darth Vader is the one who really introduces us to a lot of what the Force can actually do. There's a few things that were a bit odd... deflecting blaster bolts with your hand springs to mind... but still, he's obviously a pretty powerful Force user.

Which leads us on to something that is explained in the Expanded Universe and may or may not remain canon.

Apparently, Vader was something of a bugger for infiltrating his opponent's mind when in the midst of a scrap. Via the Force, he would influence the enemy's emotions and try and push them into a blind, sloppy rage in order to finish them off more easily.

If you needed evidence, Return of the Jedi... Luke loses the plot when he mentions Leia? Case closed, Vader's in your head.
