20 Utterly Devastating Movie Endings No One Saw Coming
11. Toy Story 3
If ever there was a film franchise that should have known when to stop, it's Toy Story. While there was nothing inherently wrong with Toy Story 4, nor will there likely be with the upcoming Toy Story 5, they have taken away from what would have been the perfect ending at the conclusion of Toy Story 3.
Not only did you have the genuinely gut-wrenching moment in which Buzz, Woody (Tim Allen, Tom Hanks), and Co. stared at their own demise in the face of a giant furnace, but they survived to create something even more moving as a finale.
You may struggle to find anything more descriptive than devastating for the ending of Toy Story 3, as children and grown adults alike sobbed their hearts out while Andy (John Morris) passed his beloved toys onto young Bonnie.
This gave them a continued purpose in the face of Andy's journey through adolescence, and certainly it was shocking because who could have ever predicted that Andy's famously, fiercely loyal toys would ever be parted from him? It was a phenomenal ending, bittersweet and beautiful, and should have been left alone for all time.
