18. Aquaman Vs. Ocean Master - Aquaman
Another Aquaman scene now and another one of its weaker moments.
This duel between Aquaman and his villainous half-brother Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson), which takes place midway through the film, is fairly dull. It's mostly two CGI figures throwing each other around and as anyone who's seen Man of Steel will know, those kind of action sequences rarely, if ever, work.
Another issue is that the two fighters aren't grounded in any way and they just fly around all over the place, which robs the sequence of potential suspense.
It also lacks the emotional stakes it should've had. It's Aquaman's return to Atlantis, his first meeting with his half-brother and, since he loses the duel, a major failure for him, so it should've been an important part of Aquaman's character arc in the film, but instead has very little impact.
