14. Taken 2
Some films really don't open doors for a follow up, and Taken definitely seemed like one of those, with it's admittedly enjoyable violence and action paired with the element of surprise and unpredictability making it an unlikely hit. The creators were happy to cash in on it's success with Taken 2, a more tame, yet equally ridiculous slalom through chases and fights. The premise quickly becomes tired, as Neeson and his character's "Particular set of skills" embark on a formulaic and cliche ridden adventure. It's distinctly American in it's tiresome action and almost plays like a spoof of it's predecessor.
13. The Raven
This heavy-handed and clumsy take on Edgar Allen Poe's legacy is utterly unbalanced in its tones and intentions to the point of being accidentally hilarious. John Cusack strangely plays the role of Poe with a swagger that is almost impressive, but it let down by the shocking direction and a general aura of over the top doom and gloom. The whole idea is utterly ridiculous, with Poe helping Luke Evans' insanely forgettable detective track down a serial killer who is committing outrageous murders based on the author's stories. Quite simply it tarnishes Poe's legacy as well as everybody associated with the film.
