19. Detention In The Forbidden Forest - Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone

Harry Potter
Warner Bros.

This doesn't apply to the scenes in the Forbidden Forest, which are very good, but instead to the reason why Harry, Ron (Rupert Grint), Hermione and Draco (Tom Felton) end up in there.

When Harry, Ron, Hermione and Draco get caught out of beds at night, their detention is to go, with Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane), into the forest in order to find a wounded unicorn.

Seriously?!

Hogwarts has never been the safest school but usually it's acceptable enough; after all, it's not like this is a realistic school. That being said, this part was a step too far and even Potterheads will struggle to defend it, since the teachers willingly put several children in a place where they easily could've been killed.

Sure, it was in the book, but it was distracting then as well, and remains one of the most baffling and disturbing things in Harry Potter to this day. If further adaptations are made, a different method of getting the characters into the Forbidden Forest must be found.
