20 Worst Moments In Wizarding World Movies
14. Newt And Tina's Forced Romance - Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald
This was one of the many poorly-written and underwhelming elements stuck within the franchise's worst film to date.
A romance between Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston) seemed like a good direction for the characters to go in at first, but once it arrived on-screen it fell completely flat.
It was a badly-done subplot all around and that moment when Newt tells Tina her eyes look like those of Salamander lizards was not well-written at all. Unfortunately, all of this is awkward in entirely the wrong way.
Both of the actors, who are really good in their parts, do their best to sell it but it doesn't quite come through in the end. It's a damn shame that the main thing Newt actually does in Fantastic Beasts 2 is look for Tina so he can tell her how he feels, rather than actually move the plot forward like a protagonist should.
