20 Worst Movie Moments Of 2019

Across much of Hollywood's output these days, there's a common problem: there's so often an unnecessary plot twist that lets down the entire film and 21 Bridges, a mostly enjoyable thriller, is an example of this.

In 21 Bridges, Chadwick Boseman's detective hunts two cop killers in Manhattan and closes down all 21 bridges to the island to prevent their escape. This is a great set-up and the film gets a reasonable amount out of it, but then the element of a police conspiracy is thrown in for no reason.

It turns out that many of the cops killed by the two fugitives were actually corrupt cops involved in drug dealing; in fact, nearly every police character in the film is involved, led by J.K. Simmons' policeman captain.

Not only is this very contrived, but it also fatally undermines the entire film since it undoes the genuine shock of the policemen murders earlier on by making the dead cops villains, while this entire subplot is also cliched and dull compared to the rest of the movie.

Additionally, these corrupt cops might have the worst villain motivations of the year: they commit crimes because they're unhappy with their salaries.
