20 Worst Movie Moments Of The Decade

8. The Emoji Movie - All The Product Placement

Don't be fooled by the title. The Emoji Movie isn't a movie. It's a cynical and frankly rather creepy advert for everything on your phone and its early claim that the emoji is the most important invention in communication history - a ridiculous line of dialogue if there ever was one - is just the tip of the iceberg.

Entire set pieces revolve around Candy Crush and Just Dance while in another scene the characters ride along a Spotify 'wave', so not only is The Emoji Movie a badly-written, unfunny, boring and shallow waste of time, but it's also a film that's out for your money. When viewers go to the cinema they have to sit through 20 minutes of adverts as it is, but as terrible as those adverts often are, at least they're actually honest about being adverts.

Anyhow, The Emoji Movie may have insisted on all this product placement, but it entirely failed to successfully sell anything to the audience. Regardless of how much you love things like Spotify and Candy Crush, this movie, with its rock-bottom screenplay and dreadful jokes, will probably put you off them for a while.
