20 Worst Movie Performances Of The Decade
11. Johnny Depp As Lord Charlie Mortdecai - Mortdecai
It's been an awful decade for Johnny Depp and he has made a Lot of bad movies. To make matters worse, despite being a good actor (ignoring the recent controversies) he's been terrible in many of these movies as well. Still, for all his recent duds, Mortdecai is easily the worst one.
Thanks to his high-pitched, excruciatingly irritating fake British accent and the many stupendously unfunny comedic moments the performance delivers, this role as Charles Mortdecai is one of those performances which is so tiresome and desperately strange you actually start to pity the actor rather than feeling annoyed with them.
In fairness to Depp, Mortdecai is a character that was never going to work, but then why did he pick this movie at all? Surely there must have been some other potential parts for him?
Ultimately, Mortdecai was just another opportunity for Depp to don loads of make-up and go ape-s**t, which is unfortunately the main thing he's been doing for the best part of the last 20 years. Thus, it's a sad representation of Johnny Depp's career decline and when watching it, one gets the feeling we're seeing an A-lister we once loved losing all of his dignity.
