Rotten Tomatoes: 36% Simon Pegg is something of an anomaly when it comes to big screen film-making: on the one hand he's capable of making some brilliantly entertaining comedies, but his CV also includes some serious clunkers. Unfortunately this schmaltzy propaganda romp followed more in the vein of A Fantastic Fear Of Everything, rather than Hot Fuzz, and buried all of Pegg's more edgy, charming appeal under litres of syrup. As if that wasn't off-putting enough the central morality lesson that the poor have the keys to happiness is both insultingly blatant and vaguely insulting. Sadly, Pegg's career looks like it might be stuttering a little, with his next film already ranking at 0% in Rotten Tomatoes too. Sample Review:
"What possibly could have possessed a comedian as sharp as Simon Pegg to squander his gifts on a movie as soggy as Hector And The Search For Happiness?" AA Dowd, AV Club
