Rotten Tomatoes: 19% Whatever happened to Johnny Depp? The actor who built a career on making great decisions and refusing to take pay-check movies seems to have discovered a more charitable spirit now that he's risen to the top of the ladder, and is making films he wouldn't cast a second glance at fifteen years ago. That stoic commitment to his craft usually meant you could count on Depp's performances being spirited (even when the films weren't always great), but in Transcendence he sleep walks through this well-intentioned but terribly executed sci-fi. Typically of a film made by a cinematographer it looks pretty, but its substance is dramatically lacking. Sample Review:
"Remember when paycheck-hungry actors were accused of phoning in a performance? Johnny Depp spins that for millennials in Transcendence by Skpying in his performance." Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
