Collide Nicholas Hoult
Open Road Films

On paper, British director Eran Creevy deserved a starrier opportunity after making Shifty and then not quite getting Welcome To The Punch right, so teaming him up with the always watchable Nicholas Hoult and the likes of Felicity Jones, Anthony Hopkins and Sir Ben Kingsley looked like a nice little marriage.

Sadly, the result is not the sum of its parts. It's not even the sum of a few of its parts. It's an under-cooked, occasionally flat-out silly actioner, with Sirs Ben Kingsley and Anthony Hopkins doing their level best to personify the paycheck job perfectly. There's some relevance in the plot (which focuses on a heist undertaken to pay astronomical medical bills), but it all ends up being a little unremarkable.

Which is really something when it also manages to be so silly at times.
