4. The Hustle
Poor Anne Hathaway. The Oscar winner sees another movie of hers amongst the worst of 2019, confirming just how far her stock has fallen recently.
A remake of Bedtime Story (best known for previously being remade as Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), the underlying story of two con artists trying to outdo each other has clearly worked before but this new version lacked intelligence in every department. We know the con from the start and there are limited twists. The jokes all rely on you finding Rebel Wilson’s antics amusing, which might have stood the slimmest of chances if she had any chemistry at all with Hathaway.
The plot is so simple that the movie relies on the actors entirely but despite no lack of effort, they can't elevate it to something watchable.
