Depressed self-help author Michael Stone (David Thewlis) finally manages to connect with another human being in neurotic young woman Lisa Hesselman (Jennifer Jason Leigh). The two bond over a night of drinking, and eventually end up back in Michael's room, where after more flirtation, the pair in engage in sex. That's right, puppet sex played 100% straight: none of this Team America silliness. It's a brilliant scene, encompassing the inherent awkwardness of first-time sex with, well, anyone, and evoking more honesty than most of the tastefully-shot, well-lit sex scenes we witness from live-action fare. It's definitely weird and takes a little getting used to, but this is absolutely the good kind of WTF.
