After The Joker appears on TV sporting a more "normal" appearance and challenges Batman to a fight, Bruce notices something familiar about his face. At this point a flashback plays out of the night that Bruce's parents were murdered, with the gunman asking him, "Tell me kid, you ever dance with the Devil by the pale moonlight?". The man then steps out of the shadows, revealing a young Jack Napier, sporting a signature creepy grin that could send a shiver down anyone's spine. As he flees the scene, he tells Bruce, "Cya around, kid." It's a shocking revelation because, in most traditional tellings of Batman's origin story, it's Joe Chill who killed the Waynes, and even in this film, Chill was originally written to be the killer before it was changed, presumably for shock value above all else.
