2013 Superhero Movies: Predicting Worst To Best

5. The Wolverine

The Wolverine While I will embarrassingly admit that I enjoyed the first Wolverine spin-off film, I€™ll also be quick to tell you I was 14 when it came out! This one is a Marvel property and it seems like every fan wants it to make us forget its predecessor. X-Men Origins: Wolverine seemed to get too carried away with its own ambition and forgot to actually pay attention to what fans wanted to see. What they definitely didn't want to see was an atrociously wooden portrayal of Deadpool, courtesy of Ryan Reynolds. My understanding of the X-Men cannon is a bit limited so you'll have to forgive me. But the idea of Wolverine kicking ass in Japan certainly has some inspiration behind it. I've always preferred superhero films that take us out of the same old €˜modern New York€™ setting. So I'd say the setting is a good sign. The trailer was definitely intriguing and made this film appear on my radar. But I still can€™t say I'm anticipating it as much as my next four choices. The director makes me a little weary (Knight & Day says it all). We also can't forget that we've had two X-Men films flop despite the presence of the excellent Hugh Jackman. Expected rating: 6.5/10 The Wolverine comes out July 26th 2013
