2022 Oscars: 6 Awards They Got Right (And 6 Awards They Royally Screwed Up)

11. Dune Cleans Up In The Production Categories

Denis Villeneuve's mesmerising and stunning (if emotionally distant) sci-fi epic Dune was not only one of the most nominated films of the night but it went away with the most awards. It nabbed six Oscars: Best Original Score, Best Production Design, Best Sound, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects and Best Film Editing - and it's very hard to argue with any of those.

Dune absolutely deserved all of those awards; it was a technical masterpiece in pretty much every way and, considering how often sci-fi films get snubbed by the Oscars, it was so nice to see Dune get the recognition it so deserved.

The one downer? Most of these awards were some of the pre-recorded ones and this all felt pretty insulting. Worse still, even though those awards were supposedly pre-recorded to shorten the ceremony it still went on for nearly four bloody hours, so in fact the ceremony was as bloated as ever and these cuts really didn't do much at all.
