20 Upcoming Horror Movies That Might Surprise You
8. Teenage Sex & Death at Camp Miasma
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is the next film from writer-director Jane Schoenbrun, who previously gave us the fiercely singular horror films We're All Going to the World's Fair and I Saw the TV Glow.
And if those films told us anything, it's to cast aside any expectations you have about Schoenbrun's work and just let yourself bathe in the vibes-rich, deeply weird goodness of it all.
From what we've seen of her new film so far, it looks like another brilliantly tough-to-quantify horror flick that's far more than a mere meta-slasher film, as is so trendy these days.
The trailer brilliantly doesn't give much away about the plot at all, focusing instead on establishing a palpable atmosphere and showcasing the gorgeously dreamlike visuals.
Schoenbrun has called the film her best attempt at a cozy sleepover horror movie, but knowing what we do of her prior work, it's also going to serve up some stylistic and narrative surprises nobody could've ever anticipated.
