Even though it's just a few short months away from release, we still know virtually nothing about Evil Dead Burn, except that it's another seemingly standalone entry into the franchise focused on another group of meat-sacks fending off an influx of Deadites.

All the same, a few months ago some rumours began doing the rounds that the film would have a role for Bruce Campbell's original protagonist Ash.

While Campbell has appeared in every Evil Dead film, in 2013's remake and the recent Evil Dead Rise he made only Easter egg cameos and wasn't an active part of the story.

But these rumours indicate Ash will appear in Evil Dead Burn in earnest, potentially offering audiences some closure to Ash's story following the cancellation of the TV show Ash vs. Evil Dead.

It'd certainly be fun to see Campbell in the movie if the filmmakers could make it make sense, but considering that he retired from playing Ash following Ash vs. Evil Dead's cancellation and Evil Dead Rise proved the franchise could endure without him, it just doesn't seem terribly likely.
