20 Wild Theories For Upcoming Movies
16. It's A Sequel To Close Encounters of the Third Kind - Disclosure Day
The marketing for Steven Spielberg's new sci-fi film Disclosure Day is holding its cards pretty close to the chest, though we know that it revolves around the efforts of Emily Blunt and Josh O'Connor's characters to reveal the presence of aliens to the rest of the world.
The most recent trailer revealed that the story has ties to the 1947 Roswell Incident, and only furthered the fan theory that Spielberg's latest might be a sequel to his 1977 sci-fi masterpiece Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
After all, like that film Disclosure Day seems to feature a strange alien force which attempts to interact with humanity in a totally unexpected way, and the brief glimpse of a flying saucer in the trailer also looks rather similar to the one seen in Close Encounters.
This would certainly explain why the marketing has been so shy about Disclosures Day's finer details, though it could also very well be a whole lot of wishful thinking on the part of Close Encounters fans.
