The moment that Toy Story 5 was announced, many fans questioned how the film would bring Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz (Tim Allen) back together after they said a pretty definitive farewell at the end of Toy Story 4.

But the most recent trailer stoked a fascinating theory among fans, and it all comes down to that gag about Woody now having a bald spot on the back of his head.

While on the surface this seems to simply suggest that Woody is getting up there in the years, some have clung to the idea that we might actually be looking at a different Woody entirely - one who was never restored as "our" Woody was in Toy Story 2.

If this isn't the same Woody from the four previous films but another version of the toy, it would easily explain how he and Buzz are back together again.

Admittedly this one's pretty far-fetched as theories go, if only because Buzz and the other toys would have no shared history with Woody 2.0, and turning Woody into a blank slate would be seriously limiting on a character level.
