6. Wario Is In It - The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
The Rumour:
Though Jack Black expressed his desire for Pedro Pascal to voice Wario in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the marketing gave no indication whatsoever that Wario would actually be in it.
However, roughly a month before the sequel's release, UK cinema chain Everyman posted a synopsis which mentioned Mario facing off against an evil alliance between Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie) and Wario.
This naturally sent fans into a frenzy, hopeful that Wario was a secret villain being intentionally kept out of the movie's marketing - all the more so when Everyman deleted said synopsis from their website.
The Truth:
But no, Wario doesn't appear in the movie at all, and this was presumably the result of either an Everyman worker going rogue and cooking up their own synopsis for kicks, or more likely, getting AI to do the job - poorly.
At least there's a decent chance we do get to see Wario in the inevitable third film.
