20 Recent Movie Rumours That Were Total BULL
7. Kane Parsons Didn't Really Direct It - Backrooms
The Rumour:
One of the big stories preceding the release of Backrooms was the youth of director Kane Parsons, who was just 20 years old at the time of shooting.
Given his radically young age and both the maturity and experience typically expected to direct a studio movie, rumours swirled that Parsons didn't really helm Backrooms, and that the film was instead ghost-directed by one of the film's many producers, Longlegs filmmaker Osgood Perkins.
The Truth:
But one of the film's stars, Mark Duplass, quickly took to social media to refute this claim, saying that during shooting Parsons was "100% in control" and "intensely prepared."
And of course, this was an incredibly silly rumour from the jump.
While it's easy to believe that experienced producers such as Perkins and James Wan were effectively backstops overseeing the production, if they thought Parsons wasn't capable of directing the film he wouldn't have been hired in the first place.
And A24 were evidently happy enough with his work that he's already been confirmed to return for Backrooms 2.
