Somewhat inevitably, Tim Burton included a number of Batman references in his pet piece The Nightmare Before Christmas. In the animation two toys that Jack delivers reference Batman Returns moments: one is an evil duck on wheels, just like Penguin's quirky vehicle and the other is an evil cat doll, with the same head as Shreck's corporate mascot. And "Making Christmas" is the same music used when Penguin's goons wreck a shop. But then, with Burton moved into the producer's chair, Joel Schumacher showed his love for the director's animation in two ways: first he dressed one of the trick or treating characters who approach Wayne Manor in Jack's Pumpkin King outfit from the film (above), and then he modelled Dr Burton on Burton and added a Nightmare touch. His cookie outfit includes a bow-tie that has clearly been modelled on the one worn by Jack Skellington in Nightmare Before Christmas.
