21 Monstrously Stupid Pieces Of Writing In Godzilla

5. Conveniently Placed Doors

Whether it€™s the doors closing just when we€™re about to see a kick ass fight or the inexplicably placed wooden doors leading to a crater in the ground the director used the same €œbig reveal€ technique so often for it to utterly ridiculous. Are we really to believe that the doorway stood firm and that there was no other way down? The €œta-da€ nature of the direction is childish at best and incompetent at worst. If you want to reveal something like that to the audience the best way is a close up on a character€™s reaction following by a camera pan to show what they were reacting to. But at least mix it up a little rather than using the same thing 12 times throughout the film. Honestly, was this his first movie or what?

4. Eggs Placed Perfectly

Big momma digs herself a hole in the ground, accepts a nuclear pressie from her suitor and starts laying eggs in the ground, presumably unfertilised as Simon noted. But the main bug-bear here is that instead of just being dumped in a big hole, the eggs somehow end up arranged perfectly in a nice web structure. All in the space of about 5 seconds. How on Earth did the creature manage this? There are no doubt creatures in nature that will lay their eggs in a fractal pattern or in some form of structure but they would take their time doing it. What we have here, then, is a creature who can excrete a work of art in under 5 seconds. Complete nonsense.
