21 Monstrously Stupid Pieces Of Writing In Godzilla
3. Plasma Breath
After battling said MUTOs for a decent portion and getting bitten a few times for his trouble, Godzilla suddenly remembers he has plasma breath than can charge up within a few seconds. If this one a one-time deal or he could only do it once every few hours then OK but he clearly fires twice in a very short time-frame. So why didnt he use this earlier? Is he a cat? Was he just playing with them? That he has this in his arsenal is of course ridiculous, but having it and not using it until the last few minutes of the film? Give us a break.
2. Boat Starts Itself After Having Been Hotwired
Someone needs a lesson in physics methinks. This boat is a piece of proverbial and it had to be hotwired to get it going. Then an EMP shuts it down and would have fried all the electrical circuits on the boat. The battery would have been goosed completely, generator circuits burned out and the whole thing useless. Yet it starts itself back up a few seconds later with even the light bulbs still working fine. We also have the situation where the GPS had been set automatically BEFORE the EMP hit, so how did it switch back on and keep the same heading after the power miraculously came back on. Also, when there are only 14 minutes left until baddaboom, why would any helicopter pilot agree to risk his crew for one man? And why didnt Ford just jump in the water? Surely the sensible thing would have been for the pilot to have been ordered to pick up the bomb and fly it out as far as he could since the helicopter could fly faster and further than the boat could possibly travel in the allotted time.
I.T. Consultant, technophile and Doctor Who fan. I like to talk about tech, take films apart and make excuses for Doctor Who's continuity errors. No other show has the power to make me feel like a big kid.
