The Rock is cliche estranged from his cliche wife and cliche daughter, because he's "too driven" or "won't open up" or "God Bless America" or something like that. The Rock arrives to pick up his daughter, Blake, from the house of Daniel (her new sort of stepdad figure) with the intention of driving her to her new college in San Francisco. Daniel says, "I can fly her in my private jet if she wants?" and instead of saying, "No thanks we had a trip booked," or "actually I'd really like to spend some time with my daughter," or "back off, this is a seminal moment in her life, what's wrong with you?", The Rock just walks away. It doesn't make sense. It's purely a plot contrivance to have him separated from his daughter to rescue her later. And then, after all of that, on the jet ride over, Daniel says, that no matter what, he doesn't want to come between Blake and her dad! That is a d**k move, sir.
