The brilliant Brian Cox appeared as Colonel William Stryker in the second X-Men movie, which was, of course, based on the Marvel comic book superhero team the X-Men. He's one of three men to portray the character in the franchise, with both Danny Huston and Josh Helman having portrayed younger versions - but Cox's version is undoubtedly the best and most memorable. He has, however, also appeared in the same RED franchise - which is, of course, based on a WildStorm/DC story - that Anthony Hopkins also appeared in. In Cox's case, he appeared in both movies playing Ivan Simanov - an ex-Russian secret agent who the main characters go to for help.
