The Line: "Sometimes I just kill myself." How He Dies: In an effort to kill Batman and Vicki Vale, The Joker ends up tethered to a gargoyle, which comes loose and pulls him to a spectacular, bone-busting demise. Despite the darkness of Burton's Batman, he uses the final moments of his greatest villain to playfully pun, and creates a jarring contradiction in his gleeful silliness and the grim manner of his death: but then, that's exactly the gallows humour that underpins his characterisation.
