The Murder: Strangulation Who: Good-smelling young women By Whom: Jean-Baptiste Grenouille Motive: To create the perfect perfume, Grenouille uses his strongly developed sense of smell to find the best smelling young women What Makes It Insane? Grenouille is all sorts of insane in his obsession for the smell of the young women he preys upon. After he kills them, he soaks their bodies in large cauldrons, like you would flower petals. He has to find the best way to preserve their scent, and experiments with cold and hot enfleurage methods - which is pretty disgusting. Eventually, he goes on a killing spree to collect the thirteen perfect smells to create the perfect perfume.
