Growing up watching anime, one of the biggest problems was having to explain to your parents what exactly you are watching. You'd ask for your favorite series on video for your birthday and they'd just look at you in dumb confusion. They had no idea what it was; all they knew was that it is some weird cartoon. Anime just wasn't around when they were kids; it was a culture shock to them. Good thing your parents were awesome and let you indulge anyway.
11. The Guilt Of Enjoying Terrible Harem Comedies
There is some dumb anime out there. Really dumb. But perhaps none are quite so dumb as the harem comedy. This genre tends to have bare bones plots that exist merely as an excuse to get one sex, usually a male, into a situation where they are romantically pursued by multiple members of the opposite sex. It's wish fulfilment, plain and simple, and despite knowing you might be getting dumber... you just can't stop watching.
