Ex Machina
Universal

In 2012, three veteran film producers banded together to form A24, a production studio named after an Italian motorway. Since its inception, the company has produced over 100 movies, acquiring numerous awards - including an Academy Award for Best Picture - and industry recognition in the process.

Known for their nerve-rattling horrors as well as their challenging dramas, fantasy epics and searing character studies, A24 has become something of a cinematic powerhouse over the last few years, with their scope and ability to play with genre conventions propelling them to new heights with every movie.

But out of their 100+ features, which is the best of the best?

From instant horror classics to gorgeous fantasies, micro dramas anchored by career-best performances, and coming-of-age dramedies which perfectly capture a moment in life many can surely relate to, here are (as is only fitting) the 24 greatest movies produced by A24 Films.

24. Gloria Bell (2018)

Ex Machina
A24

A remake of his own 2013 drama Gloria, Gloria Bell was directed by Chilean director Sebastián Lelio and follows its title character (Julianne Moore), an adventurous divorcée, as she comes to terms with a new, failing relationship and her lonliness.

Anchored by Moore's energetic, tragic performance and Lelio's wonderful snapshot approach to documenting Gloria's misadventures, the drama is both darkly amusing and heartfelt, effortlessly telling the story of one woman's quest for connection and closure in the wake of an impulsive love affair.

Messy, sweet and ambiguous, Gloria Bell isn't quite a perfect film, but it is deeply affecting, with Moore's performance alone making it more than worth hunting down.
