24 Confirmed New Disney Films (& 24 Rumoured) Coming 2020-27

34. PREDICTED - The Eternals

Eternals Movie
Marvel

Release Date: 6th November, 2020

2020 sees Marvel temporarily reverting back to having just two cinematic releases rather than three (although bolstered by Disney Plus TV shows), and again, the second isn’t confirmed.

While it could be Doctor Strange 2, the most likely candidate for this slot has long been The Eternals. Directed by Chloe Zhao, the Eternals will be another prequel, except this time set thousands of years before the events of the MCU that we know and love. Created by Jack Kirby, they’re an off-shoot of humanity created by the Celestials, and possess incredible power and knowledge. There’s little confirmed so far, but Angelina Jolie and Richard Madden are reportedly among the main cast, and if nothing else there should be some potential for an absolute weird visual feast here.

33. Ron's Gone Wrong

Locksmith Animation
Locksmith

Release Date: 16th November, 2020

Having directed the delightful Arthur Christmas for Aardman, Sarah Smith has moved on, setting up her own studio - Locksmith - along with Julie Lockhart and their first project is animation Ron's Gone Wrong. Set in a world where walking, talking, digitally connected robots have become children's best friends, it tells the story of an 11-year-old boy who finds that his robot buddy doesn't quite work.

An allegory for the over-zealous digital era or a fable about the essence of existence? Possibly both. The pedigree behind the film already shouts pretty loudly, but then throw in the fact that it's directed by Jean-Philippe Vine (formerly of Pixar) and Alessandro Carloni who cut his teeth on the Kung Fu Panda and How To Train Your Dragon movies and this sounds like a wonderful little gem.
