24 Confirmed New Disney Films (& 24 Rumoured) Coming 2020-27

32. PREDICTED - Zootopia 2

Zootopia movie
Disney

Release Date: 25th November, 2020

There aren't a great deal of options for Disney animations these days, and unfortunately it's unlikely we're going to see too many hand-drawn films for a while. It's a dying art and as long as films like Frozen, Tangled, Zootopia and Big Hero Six give Disney huge box office takes, they'll continue to go that way.

After lots of rumours based on the original's box office success, it seems likely that Disney will turn their hand back to the animal kingdom of Zootopia too. There are plenty of stories left to tell in that world and the news has seemingly been revealed by Zootopia voice actor Tommy “Tiny” Lister, who appeared as Nick Wilde's sidekick:

“I can tell you for sure I’m doing another Zootopia with Disney. We doing three of them. [There were] three Madagascars. We’re gonna replace that. We’re the biggest film that Disney is producing. The last one was $240 million. This one I’m hearing will be $300 million. That’s what they spent on the budget, not the advertising. But the movie made $2.6 billion, with merchandising and the box office.”

31. West Side Story

West Side Story

Release Date: 18th December, 2020

For all the talk that musicals are over, they just keep coming back and making bank at the box office and the prospect of Steven Spielberg turning his hand to a musical after he's leapt about lots of other genres is tantalising indeed.

Given his eye for shots and character work, it makes sense that he'd want to go for something as theatrical as a big screen musical and West Side Story suits him to a tee. Okay, it's not about childhood abandonment issues, but there's a passion beneath the hood that definitely fits his sensitive sensibilities. The cast so far is eclectic, but very much packs in stage experience and skill, with the top line support played by Dear Evan Hansen star Mike Faist, Dance Moms and Sia video star Maddie Ziegler and dancer Ana Isabelle and the leads by Ansel Elgort and Rita Moreno.
