The Pitch... Marvel's new big thing, concentrating on their other superhero team. And when we say other, that means interstellar raccoon warriors and trees other. Those two will play part of the rag-tag group of warriors charged with saving the galaxy, and protecting an American pilot (Chris Pratt) who steals a powerful orb sought by all-round bad guy Ronan (Lee Pace). Plus Points It's a very brave choice for Marvel, who could have concentrated on their main properties for Phase Two, as well as Avengers additions like Ant-Man and possibly Dr Strange, and it at least shakes things up. The Reservations... It's about a raccoon, some other aliens and a giant tree monster. Quite how they're going to balance the accessibility needs with the obvious CGI requirements without going too Green Lantern/Howard The Duck remains to be seen. It's hard not to say Guardians is so anticipated because it could be a spectacular flop. Plus in Diesel and Bautista is not the kind of cast duo you'd usually see outside of a straight to DVD actioner. And anything with Benicio Del Toro playing an "outer-space Liberace" sets off all sorts of red flags.
