24 Hottest Stephen King Films Currently In Development

11. Joyland

Release: 2016? Status: Pre-production Taken from King's answer to the invitation to write something for the Hard Case Crime series, Joyland is ripe for adaptation, and duties have fallen to Winter's Bone director Tate Taylor. It's a beautifully retro affair: a whodunit set in a fairground (minus the Scooby Snacks), as much about growing up as it is about solving murders, and it should make for a great adaptation. Prospects: Having seen the success of Haven - based on the preceding King book in the Hard Case Crime series - it's not hard to imagine that a show with the same bones would work similarly.
