24 Hottest Stephen King Films Currently In Development

8. 11/22/63 (TV)

Release: 2016 Status: Pre-production Even before the novel's release, a film adaptation was in the offing, but that ultimately fell apart at the end of 2012, before Warner Bros TV and JJ Abrams' Bad Robot secured the rights to a mini-series. As stories go, the tale of a teacher who finds a time portal and seeks to stop the assassination of JFK, only to find the consequences of his actions are far more dire than he anticipated is a great one. And it should work well as a mini-series. Prospects: Time travel and TV shows go together like apple pie and ice cream for American audiences, and Bad Robot are a big draw for fans looking for reassurances that the adaptation will go well. Inevitably, there will still be a split on whether James Franco is actually likeable or not, but at least that offers something to get your teeth into.
