Release: TBC Status: Just Announced King's recent departure from horror writing saw him go hard-boiled for the tale of a broken retired detective on the hunt for a deranged, incestuous killer who takes great pleasure in taunting him. Prospects: The book was well received, which is always a good starting point. Plus the talent already attached to the show - including King himself as executive producer - are a big deal. Writer David E Kelly is about as veteran as they come, even if he's not really done hard-boiled before, and Lost director Jack Bender will sit in the chair. If they follow the critical success trail and channel something of True Detective's darkness (the story lends itself well to something that murky), this could be a serious contender for the most anticipated show of whatever year it actually gets released.
