24 Predictions For This Oscar Season's Rotten Tomatoes Scores
7. The Revenant (96%)
Predicted Critical Consensus: "Led by yet another awards-worthy performance from Leonardo DiCaprio, The Revenant is an ambitious, superbly shot period thriller boasting some of Alejandro González Iñárritu most assured direction." Bank your money on DiCaprio's latest effort for Oscar glory being one of the year's very best-reviewed films (likely just behind Pixar's Inside Out, which sits at a near-unbeatable 98%, with a 9/10 average to boot). Considering the on-set controversy about Iñárritu's ridiculous level of perfectionism (which has seen the budget balloon substantially), anything less than an instant masterpiece would be considered a disappointment. The intense trailer recently released appears to do all involved justice, that this is going to be one of the most singular, intense, visually awe-inspiring and well-acted movies of the year. With DiCaprio currently enjoying his status as the Internet's Favourite Actor Who Never Won An Oscar, there will be huge interest in seeing this movie (and his performance in particular) strike up the rave reviews it's almost certainly going to get. Yes, those set troubles could be spelling out a messy final product, but given Iñárritu's track record, it doesn't seem terribly likely now, does it?
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
