24 Predictions For This Oscar Season's Rotten Tomatoes Scores

8. Beasts Of No Nation (83%)

Predicted Critical Consensus: "It may be too grim for some audiences to stomach, but Idris Elba's ferocious central performance and Cary Fukunaga's mesmerising direction combine to make Beasts of No Nation an unforgettable cinematic experience." The trailer released for this adaptation of Uzodinma Iweala's 2005 novel suggests a thoroughly unpleasant but potentially jaw-droppingly powerful film, which with impressive upstart Fukunaga both writing and directing, could see Elba enjoy significantly more awards success than his previous attempt at glory, 2013's underwhelming Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. Just like other intensely disturbing films such as Requiem for a Dream (78%) and Shame (79%), it'll turn some critics off due to its graphic content, but as an uncompromising examination of the scars of war, expect no other movie this year to do it better. And as if that wasn't intriguing enough, it'll be available on Netflix the very same day it hits cinemas: October 16th.
