24 Shots That Completely Ruined The Tone Of Classic Movie Moments

22. The Godfather

Godfather Marlon Brando's performance as the Godfather is arguably one of his finest, despite the fact that he offered far more colourful performances with greater emotional range, and far more "frills" such as his Kurtz in Apocalypse Now. It all came down to the intangible essence of the performance, everything that was unexpressed and bubbling just beneath the surface of the character - he was a picture of supressed emotion, as a preservation technique - both for himself and his image, and this shot, though disarmingly charming, is the complete opposite of that agenda.

21. Frankenstein

Frankenstein Another infamous villain, chilling between shots, and enjoying the warming embrace of a cup of tea and a slice of toast. Simple pleasures. The domestic context turns Frankenstein's monster into Herman Munster, and that's not the greatest transformation to preserve his evil appeal. But at least we have the real answer to taming the innate villainy within the beast - milk and two sugars.
